Fundraising Activities

Maryland Charity Campaign

Through direct contact with faculty and staff, the office of Special Events & Community Relations is responsible for facilitating the annual Maryland Charity Campaign. Special Events & Community Relations is responsible for conducting an intensive campaign to encourage Morgan State University employees to contribute to the Morgan State University Foundation, Inc. by way of the Maryland Charity Campaign. The campaign allows contributions through payroll deductions, checks, cash and credit card payments, thus offering several payment options to accommodate every University employee. Proceeds from the Maryland Charity Campaign are used to enhance educational opportunities at the University, through student scholarships and faculty research and support.

Annual Gala

Each year the Office Special Events & Community Relations and a committee of MSU Alumni, host a Gala to raise funds for the Morgan State University Foundation, Inc. The proceeds from the Gala are used as unrestricted funds to support student scholarships as well as support faculty projects. The Gala is held during homecoming weekend and serves as a formal social setting where Morgan Alumni can meet and greet former classmates. It is a way to stay in touch and to meet fellow Morganites. The Gala consists of dinner entertainment, dancing and a raffle.

Fostering Relationships With the Community

Morgan State University is located in the heart of northeast Baltimore City. Therefore, it is vital that the University and the community work together to ensure that our goals and missions are cohesive. As Morgan develops as a University it is important that the community is positively impacted by those changes. Community meetings are hosted to ensure that the community is aware of Morgan's mission, goals and initiatives and that the voice of the community may be heard. The Office of Special Events & Community Relations works to foster positive, healthy relations between the University and the community.
