MORGAN CHOIR BECOMES PART OF NATION’S HOLIDAY CELEBRATION Someone took special notice when the Morgan State University Choir was performing recently at Carnegie Hall in New York – it was none other than country music sensation Faith Hill. The result was an invitation to become a part of her tour to promote her new Christmas CD, “Joy to the World.” The Morgan State Singers, a segment of the choir, will join Faith Hill for several performances, beginning Monday, November 24th, live on NBC’s Today Show. And there’s more! The Morgan Singers will also perform with Ms. Hill on the David Letterman Show on CBS, which will be taped on that same day, November 24th, to be aired at a later, unspecified date. Then tune in to the annual Christmas tree lighting at New York’s Rockefeller Center on December 3rd for another performance featuring Faith Hill and the Morgan Singers, which airs at 8:00 p.m. on NBC (WBAL-TV in Baltimore). “I have always known that appearing at Carnegie Hall can make things happen for any performer or group but I never expected that it would lead to a call from Faith Hill,” said Dr. Eric Conway, director of the Morgan State University Choir. “This really is the perfect end to what has been a truly amazing year for the Morgan choir.” The choir’s concert schedule this year has included a tour with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, a performance at the Kennedy Center and an unprecedented two visits to Carnegie Hall. The schedule concludes with the choir’s annual Christmas concert on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Murphy Fine Arts Center.
