Morgan Hires New Development DirectorMorgan State University is pleased to announce the addition of Erica Fry Cryor to the staff as director of development. Well known in the Baltimore area because of her long-time involvement in numerous professional and community organizations, Cryor comes to the University after nearly thirty years with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. “As a graduate of Morgan State, I have felt for many years a desire to give something back to the university that helped give me the start I needed for a satisfying career,” said Cryor. “I consider this my opportunity and very much look forward to the challenge.” Cryor earned her B.S degree from Morgan, an M.S. from Howard University and is a graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law. She is a current board member of the University of Maryland School of Social Work, Turn Around, Inc., a sexual assault/ domestic violence center, and the Baltimore City School for the Performing Arts, among others. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and The Links, Inc., and a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Baltimore Freedom Academy, a Baltimore City public high school. “I am very excited to have Erica join our team in this capacity,” said Cheryl Y. Hitchcock, Morgan’s vice president for Institutional Advancement. “The energy, commitment and passion that she brings will make her very successful in her fundraising efforts.” As director of development, Cryor will develop and implement strategies to increase financial support for the University from private sources. Morgan State University is in the final year of a five-year capital campaign to raise $25-million for student need-based financial assistance and university program enhancements. Morgan State University, founded in 1867, is a doctoral research professional institution offering more than 60 academic programs leading to bachelor’s degrees as well as programs at the master’s and doctoral levels.
