Cummings To Speak To Morgan Students

Known as a thought-provoking and motivational speaker, Maryland Congressman Elijah E. Cummings will be the featured speaker on the campus of Morgan State University on April 15, 2004. Congressman Cummings is appearing as guest speaker in the Student Activities/ Student Government Association 2003-2004 Lecture Series.

A member of Morgan's Board of Regents, lawyer and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland's 7 th Congressional District, Representative Cummings will lecture to students at 7:00 P.M. in the Carl Murphy Fine Arts Center's Gilliam Concert Hall on Argonne Drive.

"It means a lot to me as a student to know that such a prestigious public official within our community would make it so far in his career and still make time to help the next generation," said Shaun Allende, a senior public relations major at Morgan.

Congressman Cummings is the third and final speaker in this year's SA/SGA Lecture Series. Previous speakers in the highly successful lecture series this year were hip-hop generation author, activist, recording artist, and film producer Sister Souljah, and actress and author Donzaleigh Abernathy, daughter of civil rights activist Ralph David Abernathy.

The Morgan State University Office of Student Activities/ Student Government Association and the Junior Class are joint sponsors of this so-curriculum event. Admission to the lecture by Representative Cummings is free and open to the public.
