Annual Science-Mathematics-Engineering Fair this WeekMorgan State University's 24th Annual Science-Mathematics-Engineering Fair gets underway this week in the Hill Field House. The various exhibits will be on display for public viewing from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 20th. Each year, Morgan's Center for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education in the School of Education and Urban Studies, sponsors the Science-Mathematics-Engineering Fair for students in grades 6 through 12 who are enrolled in public, private or parochial middle and high schools in Baltimore City and surrounding counties. This year's fair will include projects by more than 300 students from at least 20 local schools participating in the two-day event. Individual and team projects are judged in the categories of physical science, biological science, earth and environmental science, mathematics/ computer science and engineering in both junior and senior levels. The judging will take place from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 20th and winning projects will be announced at the 7:00 P.M. awards banquet. Winners receive scholarships, trophies, certificates and monetary awards. Last year, Dung Tran of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in Baltimore City, and Monica Johnson of Randallstown High School in Baltimore County, were the first and second place winners of the science fair.
