Two former Morgan State University students, Lamar Hylton and Adriel Hilton, are among those receiving recognition in the April issue of Ebony magazine. Both were named one of the magazine’s “Young Leaders Under 30” for their educational achievements, service to the community and leadership.

Lamar R. Hylton is a 2004 graduate of Morgan’s Vocal Music-Performance program and, after receiving a Master’s in Education from Ohio University, is back at MSU pursuing a Ph.D. in Higher Education. Hylton is an assistant director in the Office of Student Engagement at Goucher College.

Dr. Adriel A. Hilton received his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Morgan State University in 2008 after earning his baccalaureate degree from Morehouse College and a Master’s degree from Florida A&M University. He now is a public policy fellow at the Greater Baltimore Committee.

Dr. Hilton has also been recognized, along with Lenwood W. Hayman, Jr., for outstanding doctoral dissertations by the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education. Hayman and Hilton took first and second place, respectively, in the organization’s doctoral awards competition, announced at the AABHE’s annual conference March 21, 2009. Hayman is also a graduate of Morgan State University, class of 2002, and a Ph.D. candidate in Social Psychology at Wayne State University.
