Morgan State’s Entrepreneurial Development and Assistance Center Brings Youth Entrepreneurship to Baltimore in 4th Annual EYE for Change Conference

EDAC and EYE for Change partner to teach students how to prosper in a down economy

Entrepreneurship is not reserved only for adults, it is for the youth as well. On April 2, 2009, Morgan State University’s Entrepreneurial Development and Assistance Center (EDAC) and Engaging Youth Entrepreneurs for Change, Inc. (EYE for Change) will present the Fourth Annual EYE for Change Conference from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Morgan State University New Student Center. The conference will provide information, resources, networks and inspiration for young people to pursue entrepreneurship as a career option and employ an entrepreneurial attitude to excel and remain competitive in the workforce.

This year, the conference will host over 600 attendees and will give away $5,000 worth of awards and scholarships as start-up funds for students starting their own business. Major sponsors include M&T Bank, PNC Bank, Municipal Employees Credit Union, Inc. (MECU), and Morgan State University’s Entrepreneurial Development and Assistance Center (EDAC) through funds provided by the Department of Education Title III program.

“This year’s theme, EYE am an agent for change, is a declaration of lifestyle that challenges and celebrates youth who are transforming their communities and the economy by launching successful business ventures,” said Natasha Cross, executive director of EYE for Change.

The conference will feature exciting rallies, games, prizes, give-a-ways, performances and interactive workshops that provide a fresh perspective on proven business concepts. Winners of this year’s Biggest Boss business plan competition will be announced and receive mentoring by area entrepreneurs for a year. Youth entrepreneurs, service providers, and educators will also be showcased and honored during the conference. For more information, contact EDAC at 443-885-3663.
