LIBRARY SITE GETS CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH
Validating the University's claim that the site is suitable to locate
its new library, a team of engineers and architects hired to do analyses
has concluded that no ground water problem exists at the location where
the old Carl Murphy Fine Arts Center once stood. The team of experts reported

be necessary to build the new library on that site. And, said the team,

MORGAN CHOIR WINS PRAISE ABROAD
"The Morgan State University Choir is one of the best-regarded
U. S. university choral ensembles, fielding an extensive repertory that
spans centuries." That is how The Prague Post described
Morgan's choir at the midway point of its 30-day concert tour through
the Czech and Slovak republics. The choir's performance of Porgy and
Bess in Prague with the Czech Philharmonic was broadcast over Czech
radio and television. The tour ended July 10, 2002.

At the group's annual meeting in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Eugene M. DeLoatch,
dean of Morgan's School of Engineering, was sworn in as president of the
American Society for Engineering Education. It is the world's premier
engineering education society. Dean DeLoatch becomes the first African
American to lead the organization in its 109-year history.
